Connect (Adobe) or "Breeze"

Synopsis

  1. Users with hearing disabilities will have problems with audio (unless it is captioned), but may be able to use text chat and images.

  2. A live captioning service can be scheduled ahead of time for a fee. Captions can also be included in session recordings. See the "Audio Captioning" options on Setting Up Audio and Video or contact breeze@psu.edu for more information. See recordered presentation on

  3. Adobe Connect uses a Flash interface. Confirm that users with screen readers can access tools. If there is an issue, then consider using a telephone for audio or an accessible text chat or voice chat client such as Skype which includes JAWS scripts for Skype.

  4. If you are screen sharing a document such as a Word file or a Web site, consider enlarging text to enhance legibility. You can also instruct users to click the Full Screen button beneath the shared document (in the "Share Pod"). See Adobe Connect Display Strategies for more information.

  5. If your audience includes low vision participants, confirm that the interface is legible. Users can both enlarge the window and zoom in on the interface in the View menu (Windows) or Command-+ on the Mac (Firefox). Note: On a Mac zooming cuts off the bottm portion of the window, and it may not be possible to return to the original view without closing and re-opening the meeting room.

  6. If your presentation includes a PowerPoint file with images, then include Alternative Text or text descriptions for images. Transitions (e.g. flying bullet points) should be minimized since each transition is converted into a seprate slide, one for each bullet point displayed.
