Recommendations for Accessibility Audience & Mobile Device Audience

With the spread of mobile computing devices (e.g. iPhone, Blackberry, and others), users of these devices are encountering issues similar to those encountered by those with various disabilities. Common issues include the need to zoom text (mobile & low vision), difficulties with input devices (mobile & motion impaired), poor color resolution (mobile and color blindness), need for caption (mobile, no headphone & hearing impaired), images disabled (mobile saving bandwidth/download charges & visually impaired), confusion with pop-up windows (mobile and cogntively impaired/visually impaired) and others

As a result two working groups in the W3C, Mobile Web Best Practices (MWBP) and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), are working together to provide a joint set of guidelines to cover both audiences.

Interesting take on an "old issue".
